The DeWitt Community Building was a combined effort of many hard working volunteers to make a DREAM REALITY.
In 1975, the community building was built by hours of volunteer labor and donations from organizations, individuals and many fundraisers. Most of the building materials were also donated.
The community is fortunate to have a nice building in Macedonia. This building has been used for many meetings, dances, ice cream socials, graduation receptions, anniversary parties, wedding receptions, alumni banquets, craft shows, dinners, family reunions, and many special parties.
The building was named after Herm DeWitt who volunteered many hours to the Fire Department and was responsible for starting the ambulance service.
In 2006, the DeWitt Community Building committee was formed to maintain and update the building. The kitchen has been updated, building painted, new table and chairs, new electrical lighting, new furnace and air conditioning, new serving counters, sound system and bathrooms are handicapped accessible.
For rental information call the City Hall Office at 712-486-2323.
